"Science is by its very nature international, its wealth transcends borders and it constitutes a common good at the service of society, a collective treasure. In the face of current developments, the scientific community, and in particular the members of the Académie des sciences, remain vigilant. Through my mandate as vice-president, I will strive to remind everyone that expressing oneself, engaging in dialogue and taking action are essential to preserving the vitality and future of a science with and for society."
