The session is open to a general scientific audience.
The most prestigious distinction awarded each year by the Académie, the Grande médaille honors a foreign scientific figure whose original work has marked a decisive turning point in the advancement of science.
This year's laureate is a visionary figure, who as early as the 1970s perceived for humanity with remarkable clarity the crucial stakes of human action on the Earth's climate. A committed precursor, he has never ceased to alert us to the major risks for our planet and the profound inequalities suffered by some 3 billion of its most vulnerable inhabitants.
His action is guided by a strong conviction of the need for collective commitment, particularly through the education of the younger generations.
This exceptional session invites you to come and meet her and attend a series of fascinating scientific talks by Valérie Masson-Delmotte, Sandrine Bony and Nicolas Bellouin, around the major climate challenges facing our societies.
