The Institute's bookshop is delighted to welcome Pascale Cossart, Honorary Permanent Secretary of the French Academy of Sciences, and Erik Orsenna, of the French Academy, for a presentation and discussion of Pascale Cossart's book Virus contre bactéries – une solution pour vaincre l'antibiorésistance (Odile Jacob).

The resistance that bacteria develop to antibiotic treatments is believed to be responsible for a silent epidemic that threatens us all. However, there is an alternative technique to antibiotics for combating bacteria: bacteriophages, viruses that only attack target bacteria.

Adopting an approach that is sometimes educational, sometimes historical, but always scientific, Pascale Cossart takes stock of this promising technology, its prospects for development, and the hopes it raises.

She will be in conversation with writer Erik Orsenna, who occupies seat 17 of the Académie Française more than a century after Louis Pasteur. Erik Orsenna is an ambassador for the Institut Pasteur.

The book will be available for purchase on site.
