Christophe Salomon wins prestigious Balzan Prize

French physicist and academician Christophe Salomon has been awarded the prestigious Balzan Prize for his pioneering work using ultra-cold atoms to improve the accuracy of atomic clocks and, consequently, the measurement of time.

Christophe Salomon, physicist, member of the Académie des sciences and director of research at CNRS, was awarded the prestigious Balzan Prize for his pioneering work using ultra-cold atoms to improve the accuracy of atomic clocks and, consequently, the measurement of time.
The Italian-Swiss Balzan Foundation, which awards these distinctions each year, pointed out that each of the four prizes is endowed with 750,000 Swiss francs, half of which is to be spent on research.
Three American researchers are also among the prizewinners: Carl H. June, Josiah Ober, Rosalind Krauss
