Biography

Antoine Triller devotes his research to the biology of the synapse. Working on the dynamics of neuronal receptors at synapses, he has shown, using original molecular imaging techniques developed with physicists, that receptors are not permanently fixed at the synapse membrane: they constantly diffuse in the plane of this membrane. This phenomenon, necessary for learning, is regulated by the activity of neurons and neural networks. The molecular mechanisms responsible for this regulation have been identified. These results have led to a radical rethinking of neuronal membrane biology. They shed new and unexpected light on pathophysiological mechanisms, located at the synapse level, concerning disorders of neuronal excitability (epilepsy or neuropathic pain) Alzheimer's, Parkinson's) thus opening up new therapeutic avenues in the initial phases of these diseases.
