The
Delegation for international relations
The
Delegation for international relations (DRI) was created in 1982. Guy
Laval is the present Vice-President / Foreign Affairs, in post since January 2008.
The
delegate organizes meetings and draws up agreements with foreign Academies
and similar institutions. He is a member by right of several committees
or commissions with an international brief.
Since 1982, 43 high-level
agreements on scientific cooperation have been signed with Academies
of sciences around the globe. The first of these were with India, Poland
and Sweden.
Special agreements, providing for exchanges of speakers, have been signed
with the Royal Society
(lectures : Claude Bernard and Humphry Davy ), with the Accademia
Nazionale dei Lincei (lectures : Louis de Broglie and Enrico Fermi)
and with the Koninklijke
Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschapen (lectures : René Descartes
and Christian Huygens).
The
delegate maintains a close relationship with various multilateral interacademy
organizations:
-the
International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU),
-ALL
European Academies (ALLEA),
-the
InterAcademy Panel for international issues (IAP),
-the
International Academy Council (IAC),
-the
European Academies Scientific Advisory Council (EASAC),
and also with
-the Academy of Sciences
for the Developing World
(TWAS).
The international Prizes show the cooperation between the french Academy of sciences and some foreign Academies:
-Lounsbery Award,
-Descartes-Huygens Award,
-Gay-Lussac - Humboldt Award,
-Microsoft Award.
The DRI participates, with EASAC and the European Commission to the organisation of pairing between european scientists and members of Parliament.
The
DRI participates to the Joint Science Academies’ Statement for the G8+5 countries.
